This fully restored Shelby Cobra GT500 KR is 1 of only 933 KR Fastbacks built. The car has Shelby Automotive Serial #4293 and is documented as a rare "factory special" car. 1 of 94 ever produced. It is fresh from a comprehensive restoration to concours class standards. The most incredible thing about this KR is its documentation. The documents include the original Build Sheet and full Marti Report. This KR is factory yellow paint with black hood strips, making it about the rarest Shelby around. This ultimate Shelby was equipped with the newly released 428cid Cobra Jet V8, which while was conservatively rated at 360hp in the advertising literature, but was rumored to be around 400hp. By late 1968, Shelby production has been taken over by Ford with basic production at the Metuchen Mustang factory. Those cars destined to become GT350's, GT500's, or GT500 KR's were then transported to Livonia, Michigan, where A.O. Smith and Company undertook that task of adding all the exclusive fiberglass body and trim parts, as well as taking care of distributing these cars to the proper dealerships around the world. One of the most remarkable men ever to cross the path of the American motor sports is Carroll Shelby. Carroll maintained the integrity of the Shelby's by arranging it so that regardless of circumstances, he would always have the final say in what went on the cars that bore his name. The workmanship that has been conducted on this numbers matching, highly authentic, fresh restoration would certainly put a wide smile on the beloved Texan's face - just as it will the new owner when it is shown, judged and paraded about town.
